A new chapter?
I really enjoyed my run with other human beings on Saturday and in a funny way it re-ignited my running flame. I am not saying that it was it had been completely extinguished but of late it had become more of a tea light flame than the bunsen burner it had been. Looking back, I realised that I had started to put running on the backburner after my holiday in Hopman this year. I went on a couple of runs up there and for the first time in my running life, I dind't enjoy them. Round about that time I also broke my goal of running my usual 8 mile route in a pace under 8 min/mile. This had been a goal for over a year and although I was elated at first, the come down made me feel slightly melancholic. Now it feels like I have a new goal!!!
So my blip today is a route that I have drawn starting and finishing at the gym. I posted it on my facebook page and invited anybody who wanted to join me at 0540 to come along and we could run together. As long as the pace is under 10 minute miles, I will make my cyclefit class at 0700. I was reading in a magazine about this gentleman who wanted to start a cyling club so he put up flyers in his neighbourhood and his coalface. At first he cycled himself but slowly each week more and more people came along and now they have 100 members. This has inspired me to do the same - what is the worst that can happen? I run by myself but this is infinitely better than my usual 50 mins on the treadmill!!
