Egrets on the Move

What a great day! First, a terrific walk on the beach: egrets, seals, pelicans, seagulls, little hoppy shorebirds, and the sound of the surf weaving it all together. ExtraDays and I hopped in the car and drove down to Pacific Grove,where we helped support the local yarn shop, fabric store and clothes consignment place--terrific finds in every venue! And then, after resting at home for a bit, off to campus to see the Altai Kai Music Ensemble, mesmerizing throat singers from the Republic of Altai in southern Siberia.The three of us were simply stunned by the sounds this quartet produced.  I have to admit that two days ago I would have guessed that Altai was an empire in Star Wars; it's amazing that there is still so much of the world I know nothing about.
