Geelong Aboriginal Experience
Today finds us not far from Melbourne in the town of Geelong. We traveled to a place called Narana Creations which highlights the customs and beliefs of the native Aborigine tribes in this area. We were welcomed with a ceremony involving the burning of eucalyptus and the playing of a didgeridoo, which made me think of many Native American ceremonies involving the burning of sage. We also met a very tame young kangaroo, admired numerous beautiful rock paintings (this one is of an emu), and learned how to throw a boomerang. As you can see, Mr. W was a natural! Today was the first day of this trip where it felt really hot -- the temperature this afternoon is predicted to be in the mid-90's F.
