It's Grim Up North

Crayoning.
Sometimes I find it hard to believe that I used to earn my living by painting. I can't be a***d to reinstate the level of discipline that was required for commercial work, so thought I'd start again from the beginning with a little sketch book and some very blunt materials that I've never used before. The results so far are less than inspiring.
The temptation to return to large pieces of paper and watercolour and gouache, which I understand, is huge, but I'd be trapped in the past and I can't be a***d to stretch the paper.
Also, I never learnt to draw anything other than flowers and leaves and the occasional tea pot. How can you do art A level and train to be a wallpaper designer without having drawing lessons? That was the 60s and 70s for you.
Maybe you can't regain lost skills? I know I wouldn't pass a pure and applied maths A level 47 years on.
My creative motivation - 'Cant be a***d.'
