Sewing bee

We had the best festive afternoon at Mary’s house! Friend Susie belongs to something called ‘Inner Wheel’ and she had plans to sew 36 knitted squares into a blanket as part of the group’s Christmas giving.

Not knowing quite how to set about this, she begged help from the gals in our book club and today was the afternoon set aside for our sewing bee! We also had a discussion about the Booker Prize-winning Milkman, so were very efficient.

Mary’s house was gorgeously festive and so cosy, with golden lamplight and the Christmas tree, with a glowing fire in the grate and mulled wine on the sideboard. Heavenly.

This is a photo of the squares set out in the pattern we decided on, with five sets of sewers’ feet! It felt so Christmassy and was such a great way to spend the afternoon :)
