Tinsel and Tat
We visited a garden centre this afternoon. The whole place seemed to be turned over to Christmas.
There were all kinds of baubles and decorations on sale, some in better taste than others. It is astonishing how many gaudy, cheap looking and (in my view) tasteless items there are for sale, and how expensive some of the Christmas decorations are. There were imitation trees, with and without built in lights, there were soft toys of all descriptions, large illuminated reindeer and Santas, there were candles of all colours (scented or not). This garden centre was also selling jewellery, food, drink (including alcohol), greetings cards and various gifts. There was the garden centre cafe, decorated with Christmas trees and Christmas posters.
And the place was busy.
Oh, and in the corner of this garden centre, there were also some garden plants and garden tools. Novel.
