Hot Dog

It was freezing cold and raining so I took Ollie dog into the Bittern Hide at Fishers Green. A young man pointed a device that looked like a truncated telescope at her. I asked what he was doing and he showed me the image above which could be seen through a small hole in the end of  it. It was a thermal imaging device that he was hoping to use to spot wildlife in the reeds. 

A shy water rail ventured briefly out of the reedbed and I got the pic in extras. I asked the man with the device if I could try capturing the image he had taken of Ollie through the hole. He held it firmly and I braced myself into a tripod and got the above using my wide angle macro lens which has a light which finally came into its own. :)
