Library van

I was behind the library van as it headed into Kirkwall.

These vans provide such an important service and there is always a concern these days that they will be cut in an effort to save money. A friend has driven one of the Shetland library vans for years. In the course of her day she (unofficially) does numerous small tasks for people who may be lonely and isolated and rarely see anyone. The appearance of her smiling face and a cheery exchange of news can really make someone's day. And she brings books too!
