the perils of playing donkey

We had Holly, John, Tom & Jim here today to see Kathy and Jim before they go off tomorrow down to Southampton - they're going on a cruise to the Canary Islands over Christmas (an early birthday for Kathy). A lovely fun day and we ended up playing donkey, an old favourite Kathy and Holly remembered from when they were kids. Keeping a straight face when they got the donkey card proved very difficult for Tom and Jim who tried to hide the fact they'd got it and at the same time not appear gleeful when someone else's hand hovered over picking it. We always knew when one of them had got it, and when they'd been lucky enough to pass it on.
