After searching high and low there was no sign of Storm Deirdre round these parts. Why have we started giving names to every bit of bad weather that comes our way?

I mean, how can you take seriously something called Deirdre, or Erik, or Freya, or Oliver, or Theresa, or Boris, or Jacob, or Jeremy?
