Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Brenda Holloway - I Feel Your Love Growin' On Me (recorded 1966, 'Snakepit', Detroit MI, for Motown)
Track recorded 23 May 1966; lead vocal recorded 2 June; background voices recorded 8 June; strings added 8 June, background voices re-cut 14 June 1966
A smash hit in the US R&B charts in 1966 - at least it surely would have been if Motown in their wisdom had actually released it. Today I was playing Motown Unreleased 1966, 4 CDs of material that didn't pass the quality control boards at Motown, which was run along the same lines as the automobile factories for which Detroit was famous. I think I own more Motown tracks that weren't released at the time than ones which were. Looking at all the expense that was lavished on this and all the other tracks on these compilations it seems remarkable that so much was canned.
