Irresistible

Yes and no. Yes, because I bought them. No, because two are left (and hopefully Taylor Jr is about to remove them from temptation).

They are chocolate chip cookies, by the way.

In the world of insanity down south, today May claimed holding a referendum on the final Brexit deal she's offering would be "breaking faith with the people".

Words fail me, as they do several times each day at the moment.

To compensate, today the Office got news of an extremely successful piece of work. That news was the second time in a week when the First Minister's calibre rose dramatically in my estimation.

Today's news was just about her doing something very significant behind the scenes which will achieve no publicity and win no votes, but it was a very human thing to do.

Last week at the Staffers' Booze Up she stood up and spoke for 15 minutes before dinner  - spoke as in telling jokes and just being one of the crowd. Again, no votes to be won and no publicity involved.

We usually see her giving conference speeches, answering questions in Parliament and doing the TV interviews - oh, and the endless selfies. The human side does shine through even in public, but a cynical old bird like me can be a bit... cynical about it.

Anyway, I'm less cynical now.

In other news, it snowed all day in Vilnius. In the Belmontas suburb that equates to spending 3.5 hours clearing it.
