Walnut Shells

Like so many people, the ornaments on our tree all have special meanings & memories for us. When I was small, my grandmother had a set of 4 mercury ornaments that had scenes inside, & I loved them! Every year I'd look all over the tree to find them....by the time I was in nursing school there was only one left that hadn't broken, and my grandma gave it to me. Those are what started my fascination with ornaments that have scenes inside of them.  Hallmark came out with these walnuts sometime around the late 80's, early 90's I think. I missed the first few, but I have 4 of these & each walnut has a different tiny scene inside. It seems Mae is fascinated with them too, and kept taking them off the tree ( & dropping the hooks & occasionally the ornament, on the floor). She'd open and close them.....open and close....open and close!  Can't say as I blame her, but I moved them up where she can see them but can't reach them until she's a little gentler!  :))
