My last day at the food bank today before the Christmas distribution day. It's going to be a really long and emotional day! My third year volunteering over Christmas but my first time with a full understanding about all the hard work that has gone into it.
Book/crochet club ladies made so many generous donations and we also managed to give them £300 which was spent on meat today. We went to M&S this afternoon as their ethos is that you should give people the best you can. Why should people have a value Tesco piece of meat for their Christmas dinner when you can give them something special to really make a difference and to let them know someone cares.
I'm not sure getting them some Sweating Chicken would give the same message!
My Facebook account shared a memory that the sign choir joined my Level 1 class exactly one year ago today, and tonight I was in there with the choir to entice new members to join us from the Level 2 class. I never imagined I would have stuck with the choir for so long but it's such a laugh, and all for £1 a week!
