Busy day. Weather very mild and sunny!

The main photo is our climbing hydrangea on the porch wall. The sparrows are roosting in there at night I think. They all make a great racket in the mornings.
I went into our local town first thing, one stop on the train. There were one or two small gifts I needed plus a Santa hat, for hubby,  and a decorated headband and fun, inexpensive, Father Christmas earrings for myself! We are going to a Christmas Mince Pie and Karaoke social  evening at a friend's on Saturday evening.
It was so mild as I walked back down the road from the bus stop on my way home, that the robin was singing and a great-tit doing the same! (Well he only has two notes!)
There was a group of goldfinches in the rowan tree in the adjoining garden to ours. They always remind me of small canaries in an aviary. They squabble on the bird feeder!
It could almost have been the end of January. I have already seen a large group of snowdrops, not yet in flower but well on the way when I was on my walk the other day.
The gas fire and boiler had their service early afternoon. Alongside another guy who came to see why our front door (pvc) was letting in water onto the porch floor. I dispensed tea!
No hope for the front door, so we need a new one.
I was interrupted after they both left by P who needed to speak to hubby. (He has some documents to be witnessed) Hubby is in London today returning later this evening. But P has his mobile number so they will arrange a time.
Finally managed to have my lunch about 2.00 pm
Having completed some overdue household jobs, I sat down at 3.30 pm, in the cosiness, and listened to Choral Evensong on Radio 3, coming live from Bath Abbey.
A peaceful oasis of calm reflection.

 Live from Bath Abbey.
Introit: Let all mortal flesh (Bairstow)
Responses: Leighton
Psalms 98, 99, 100, 101 (Randall, Day, Ley, Stainer)
First Lesson: Isaiah 11 vv.1-9
Canticles: Jackson in G
Second Lesson: Romans 15 vv. 7-13
Anthem: Ave Maria (Bruckner)
Hymn: O come, O come, Emmanuel! (Veni Emmanuel)
Voluntary: Veni Emmanuel (Andrew Carter)

I loved the Canticles by Jackson.
Almost time for my tea. Stephen will have his when he arrives home.
Extra photo whilst I was listening to Evensong.
