Snow play day!
Found a beautiful winter playground approximately a 45 minute drive from our home in what's called the Coquihalla Summit Recreation Area. It was snowing quite heavily when we got there and continued snowing the entire time we snowshoed. The 'trail' was to have taken us several km's to a lake not too far from where we had parked. As we happily trudged along, not seeing another soul the entire trek, we soon realized that we somehow had missed a sign as were climbing higher and higher up the mountain. It was hidden in the snow. :) Little did we realize we were well on our way up to Zoa Peak Summit which is labeled 'difficult' as a summer mountain hike and is 9.3km round trip! As we still would've had to travel several km's up the mountain to reach it, we realized it was too late in the day to attempt it and headed back down. What a blast and many laughs were had! At one point I had to help dig out my friend as the soft snow around a tree had pulled her in. The snow must've been at least 4 feet deep in some places, so we actually had to be careful not to get swallowed up. ;)
I had wanted to bring my small pocket camera but at the last moment decided on just my iPhone. The images aren't the best quality but I'm so happy to have captured a few memories of our day! (With a friends' help.)
