The shortest day

This photo was taken about 2.00 and already the sky is shrouded in darkness. Apart from occasional shafts of sunlight and the odd swirling rain, it’s just been pretty dark.

I’ve finished watching the final episode of “My Brilliant Friend” on Sky. It’s the tv version of the Elena Ferrante novel (the first of the four Naples series).

It was the best television I’ve seen for a very long time and I loved Bodyguard and Killing Eve. No contest. This was a classic, totally absorbing, magnificently acted and filmed.

I just hope they can keep up the standard if they try to dramatise the rest of the work.
