Lichen coat

This trunk of a lime tree covered in lichen looks like it is suitably wrapped up against the cold! I love the fresh light green colour of the lichen.

I think the lichen is called Evernia (Oakmoss). Apparently it is used as a fixative in the perfume industry. Its presence should mean the air here is of a good quality as its sensitive to air pollution.
