HoHoHo and Hadestown

I snaffled the last of Jo's delicious mince pies before we set off for no2 in the ChristmasCultureBinge... a performance of Anais Mitchell's musical Hadestown at the National Theatre.
I've been a fan of her lyrical music for over a decade and the songs that form the backbone to Hadestown have been constant companions for much of that time.
I nervously admit a dislike for musical theatre but this setting of those well-loved eloquent, elegant songs cut through all of that, creating a moving, memorable and terrifyingly relevant interpretation of Roman mythology

PS WhiskyFoxtrot is a wise woman, better versed in the techy ways of the modern world than I. For reference to Anais M's songs and reviews of Hadestown look to her post for the same day
