Quiet
We have had lovely family gatherings and there are more to come . . . but today was a peaceful Christmas Day to ourselves. Calm seasonal music (definitely a Santa Baby no go zone) in the background. And what better than a glass of sherry and the perfectly chosen book gift.
Lucy Mangan writes witty articles for the Guardian and I’m a fan. When I knew she had written a book about being a childhood bookworm I was instantly there, as that’s what I was. Then I hesitated, wondering whether it might be a disappointment. Then I knew I would not buy it for myself, I needed someone to buy it for me.
Then someone did . . . and I’m not disappointed, I’m totally absorbed. Hope everyone is having the Christmas they hoped for, peaceful or not.
