Smiley Face

Actually upside down but this is how we saw it on our Boxing Day Walk around Newhailes. There are at least two others nearby.

The text identifies them as markers for an Observation Monitoring Well  Other markings are contact and ID numbers. They are sited along the North Eastern edge of an area previously quarried for sand and afterwards used for landfill, which, as the buried matter decomposes, necessitates monitoring for emissions of toxic gas.
