Wide Wednesday: Christmas Scene
This is a Christmas Scene Wide Wednesday blip as requested by Bobsblips.
However, as usual for us (see our previous cakes, eg here) we have a Christmas cake with a difference, attributable to Son #3’s fertile imagination. (And as always, the only connection to Christmas is the snow in the scene!)
It’s centred around university life. As you look at the cake, at the back right is the Vice Chancellor, earning loads of money and enjoying a luxurious life of smoking and drinking lots of expensive vino. The snowman at the front, being somewhat rotund, represents the administrative bloat which poor jobbing academics have to suffer. Behind the snowman (almost out of sight) are some other poor academics who have collapsed into the snow under the weight of their responsibilities.
In the centre at the back the robot represents the engineering departments which are awash with cash. In front of that are 3 students who should be studying but who have escaped onto the ski slopes – the front one is, alas, about to descend into the abyss of student debt.
At the front on the left are 2 students who are supposed to be listening to a lecture by St Jerome but who are in fact enviously watching their classmates on the ski slope. Behind St Jerome (in some images he looks remarkably like Father Christmas) is a union meeting of academics plotting to overthrow the Vice Chancellor.
The bare tree at the back represents the parlous state of university finance.
Gosh!
(It looks best viewed large.)
(I added the plates of mince pies to make it into a wider scene, appropriate for Widwed.)
