A happy, and rapid response from the Mairie of my commune in France revealed that, in fact, I do not require a certifcat d'urbanisme, although I will be require to submit an application to the men from SPANC in order to ascertain my requirements regarding d'assainissement... the sanitation in the form of a fosse septique, or septic tank. Even received, perhaps for the first time in more than a decade, a handwritten note from the maire's assistant. Not often the French officials commit themselves to write a personal note! Next step, full permission to continue with the project...
