Viking Hogback
This 11th century stone is Norse in origin and was made to make the graves of the dead look like mighty buildings in Norse style. Not found in Scandinavia, they are only found in areas where the Vikings settled in northern Britain. This one dates back to 1263 and is in the graveyard in Luss church.
The land the church been built on has had religious settlements there for 1500 years and the Church is dedicated to St Kessog who brought Christianity to the region and was martyred in 510 AD.
