Fireplace screen

I am stuck in place while my grandson is recovering from pneumonia. Still using manual, I played with the 50mm lens without any extra lights in a pretty low lit room. The remote setting on the camera doesn't seem to work. I wonder if that also was damaged when the camera was dropped.
