June Tabor & Oysterband (part two)
One Saturday in late October last year I was on my way to see June Tabor & Oysterband in Wolverhampton. I got waylaid somewhere outside Solihull, failed to make a series of connections, and ended up missing the first two songs of the concert. As June and the Oysterband only make albums together about every twenty years, I was pretty pissed off by this, (I blipped it here), at this rate I would have to wait to 2031 to see them again!
Tonight however, they are in Birmingham, still touring the magnificent Ragged Kingdom album. It's five minutes walk from my office and, added to that, I'm in the front row! I finally get to hear the songs that I missed from that night in Wolverhampton and was delighted how June (my favourite singer), can fill Town Hall with some of her haunting and beautiful acapella singing.
It was worth the wait.
