Slime Mould

I didn't think I was going to find anything of interest on this morning's very dull grey walk over the South Downs but towards the end as we were descending I spotted this fantastic slime mould living under a Hawthorne tree. I don't have a guide to slime moulds so I haven't been able to identify it.
