Union Canal, Edinburgh

Our usual walk into Edinburgh along the Union Canal from Kingsknowe where we’d parked the car. It was a sparkling day following a night of rain and winds.

The city was busy and full of preparations for the Hogmanay celebrations. The Christmas Market was also in full swing and I have to confess I succumbed to a giant bratwurst with onions and that yellow ‘mustard’. Never had one of those before!

Towards the end of our walk into and around Edinburgh we passed last year’s annual total mileage of 1509.07, a figure that we didn’t think we’d get near this year. This is the fifth consecutive year we’ve walked 1000 miles or more in a year - all part of the Walk1000Miles challenge of which we are founder members. https://www.walk1000miles.co.uk
