Mountain flax flowers.....

.....also called Wharariki.

These flowers will be green rather than red, still attractive to birds and bees, some are large like the red flax flowers and both flower in spring. I found these as I was ambling by the Kaiapoi Lakes, the light was bright, the sun extremely hot, just the odd breeze drifting by.
