Yu Garden of Shanghai

Yu Garden or Yuyuan Garden is an extensive Chinese garden located beside the City God Temple in the northeast of the Old City of Shanghai. It comprises an area of 2 ha and is divided into six general areas laid out in the classic Suzhou style. Basically it is a rock garden with some plants and ponds, mixed in with very old buildings, pavilions and halls..

It dates back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and was owned by a government officer named Pan Yunduan. Yu in Chinese means pleasing and satisfying, and this garden was specially built for Pan's parents as a place for them to enjoy a tranquil and happy time in their old age.

Being over 400 years old, it is a must-see location, complemented by the Yuyuan Bazaar as you enter the precinct. The wide angle shot was taken at the entrance, and the interior garden shot can be seen in the extras.
