A quiet day to end 2018. Long gone are the days when we used to host a New Year's Eve party with friends and their families here for an evening of games and food. Probably we only did it for two or three years, but an enduring memory. Other New Year parties I remember are those at the Golf Club in Nairobi where different nationalities celebrated at intervals throughout the night as their home country reached midnight. Tonight, in contrast, we may not even stay up until midnight.
My blipfoto is of berries in our garden that have appeared for the first time on an ornamental privet, Ligustrum Lucidum. It is an evergreen specimen tree about fifteen years old and has handsome glossy leaves and white flower heads. The berries are rock hard, obviously of no interest to birds. See them covering the tree in the extra.
