inspired by two hearts

I pass this shed often on our morning walk. The two hearts intrigue me.
Why are there two of them?
Why have they both been hung on the same shed door?
Who lives in the house?
Are the owners young or old?
Are there words or messages written on them?

I need to go a little closer to find out the answer to the last question....but perhaps that might spoil the mystery.
