Old Friends

It's been a real wintry day, cold and dry, and we have spent several very pleasurable hours in the company of my old schoolfriend Helen and her husband Tim.  We met early doors in the Visitor Centre at Fountains Abbey and then, fortified with cuppas, took a walk down to the Abbey and along through the water gardens at Studley Royal, returning to the cafe for lunch.  Tony and I had very yummy sausage with root vegetable mash and gravy!

This is my favourite part of the Abbey, the Cellarium, and I last blipped it in 2010!  It was the storage space for the Cistercian monks, keeping food cool, dry and out of the sunlight.  It's a magical place.
