Uig Iolaire Commemoration

Because of the long distances involved, and the lack of available transport, news of the Iolaire disaster didn't reach the district of Uig in the south-west of Lewis until the 2nd of January. (Most of the rest of Lewis received the awful news on the 1st). My wife, (who's from Uig), and I attended a commemoration event today for the men from the district who were on the boat - ten who perished, and two who survived. This is a picture of a tapestry specially created for the event.
