Moments make a day

I had no real plan for today aside from making the most of the sunshine and breathing in. The Lawers car park was full but with a tiny bit of cunning and willingness to go off piste I was alone. The warm sun-kissed lower slopes could have passed as late spring but higher up the biting wind and rimed up rock spoke of January. I wasn't sold on summiting actual Ben Lawers - there was no need in what the day was becoming - but couldn't resist the chance to be above the cloud inversion.
And then. Passing through the cloud, taking the path of most resistance because why not, frozen hair, wishing I had mitts not gloves, it happened.
The moment.
Personality, brain wiring and life experience mean I dont get the moment often.
Sometimes I go searching for it, desperately needing it, rarely finding it. Other times I actively avoid it, childishly scared.
The moment where mind and soul were still. And body could be too, if I'd let it.
I found a spot, hunkered down, layered up and for just a tiny while, all of me was still.
Moments make a day for sure.
