Our Emmeline

We’ve been following the creation of a statue of Emmeline Pankhurst for Manchester’s St. Peter’s Square, by artist Hazel Reeves.
The unveiling was the culmination of a lot of hard work over the last year, and was a joyous celebration all round. Thousands of people including children from lots of local schools marched singing to the unveiling with banners, and choirs and musicians greeted the crowds. I chose a photo of artist Hazel speaking to the crowd, just after the statue was unveiled.
