Penguin Skaters ...

… on the skating rink at London's Natural History Museum.  We went back today to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition which had been sold out yesterday. It was as marvelous as always--as a bird photographer I have to contain my envy at the exquisite quality of the images. The variety of themes and specific subjects is also impressive.  In the afternoon we visited the National Gallery for a pair of exhibitions--a sweeping one on Andrea Mantegna and Giovanni Bellini (favorites not least from our many visits to Venice (last in September 2017), and then portraits by Lorenzo Lotto (yet another Venetian favorite).  For dinner our friend Alice hosted us in her London apartment--late to bed after a long bus ride and walk back home.

Posted next day at noon.
