Maternity Hospital

Just before we returned last week, we were introduced to this woman, the local midwife, responsible for bringing all the local children, for miles, into the world.
Harisen spent two hours sending the pics by snailmail internet, but they came.
The little house in the background is where she lives and does what is more or less a voluntary work of charity.
She has no clean water, electricity, aprons, glovesor equipment, not even a torch, in her sometimes rain soaked theatre.
In a very quiet way, she asked for a few necessities, like plastic for her leaking roof and sume rudimentary needs.
Immediately we agreed to help. In the short term we have done the very basics. Later in the week we hope to begin a new building beside the house, to improve things a little, with a new pump and a little hygiene.
I'm afraid of learning how women get here. It would make me too sad.
But as I always say WE ARE ON IT!!

John,
We spent the day in Lusangazi.
We visited the birth attendant, and brought her gloves, masks, aprons and some hand jell/wipes.
We discussed the building issue and she welcomed the discussion but want to discuss with her husband first.
She was very excited to have received what we brought her and said we should thank you on her behalf.

Regards
Harisen.
