Sad tidings
Awoke to sad news. My great aunt Irmgard passed away last night. She had a good innings, she was 91. She was German and after the allies won my Nans brother was sent over as part of the army to help rebuild the country. She owned nothing apart from the dress she stood up in. He bought her back with him, married her and they had two children together. He died a long while ago. She fell a few weeks ago and I thought she was OK and improving. Sadly it was not to be. She lived her with grandson who I think is going to feel it hardest.
My abiding memory of her is of her rock and rolling with my great uncle Reg and they would tear up the dancefloor at every family party. She danced until fairly recently apparently.
She is the last one of my Nans generation within our family to go.
If there is something else she will be up there dancing. She was a character and it was lovely to know her.
The rest of the day has been lovely. Bit of Christmas shopping and a fab Razzle Dazzle tonight. The children sang a Santa with a broken sleigh 'we wish you a merry christmas' Its a long story. I had five girls singing at the top of their voices in my car and it was lovely.
Anyway the cold has improved a little tonight.
