IT SNOWED
No Asda today as my friend Jan is on another cruise - this time she is going to some European Christmas markets.
It snowed over night and for most of the day. Blizzard conditions at times and the public transport is up the creek. Neil and I had planned to go to Newcastle but thought better of it. Good job too as at around 1pm " the man " knocked on the door to say that he was going to put my new boiler in today. Due to the weather I was a major priority. He said a boiler had been ordered and they would come back later to put it in.
Around 3pm the boiler arrived. Then nothing. I was beginning to give up hope but then there was knock on the door at 6.45pm. The " men " had arrived. They had been working less than a mile away and had taken 2 hours to get to my house due to the terrible road conditions and traffic.
They were freezing cold but as they turned the gas, power and water off straight away I couldn't even give them a cup of tea.
They finally left here at 8.30pm. I couldn't thank them enough as I was dreading spending another night in the cold. Cost over £2,000 but it had to be done. Money well spent as I sit here warm as toast.
My blip shows the view from Neils bedroom window in the late afternoon.
Box update - someone must have called for them early this morning but neither Neil nor I heard the doorbell. Just found a card on the mat when we got up. So Neil will have to arrange for them to be picked up another time. Hope they are gone by Christmas!.
