Sunrise

After leaving the hotel at 11pm the previous day and a 2.5 hour drive, we started the walk up Adam’s Peak. Steps all the way (over 5000 of them) - hard work : 7.5km one way and an ascent of 973m. The reward was seeing the sun rise and yet more beautiful views (including seeing the shadow of the mountain as the sun rose higher). The walk down started OK, but my lack of fitness soon meant I was wobbling my way down the steps. 25,500 steps (of any kind!) later we got back to the van for the drive back through winding and bumpy roads.
After a short nap, we went to a tea plantation. We ate quite early and were packed to head off the next day and in bed by 9.30, shattered and slightly fearful for what state my legs were going to be in the next day!
