The Answer

Went to the Post Office today and this piece of paper was passed over the counter to me....

The answer to my blip here

So this interesting building was designed by William Adam and erected in 1749 containing the spring that supplied the burgh in the 18th century.

The water was led in wooden pipes to a cistern beside the school from where it was distributed to seven stand pipes in the nearby streets.

So there you have it.....I guess something as important as fresh water deserves a nice bit of architecture to wrap round it.
