Roly's Life

Panto

Today is the annual panto day but one tinged with sadness. My Dad took me to the panto in York 42 years ago to see Cinderella along with my bestie from next door and his Dad. One of the Ugly Sisters was an actor called Berwick Kaler. Once my brother turned 3, we all went as a family and the tradition continued until my mid twenties. A couple of years ‘off’ then we returned once Eldest turned 3 and the tradition continued. Once 3, the next generation joined in.

Today 11 of us went to see our last panto with Berwick as the Dame. It was the usual rubbish but very entertaining and a fab homage to our favourite Dame. It won’t be the same without her and there has been much discussion about what will happen next year!

Panto was followed by Wagamama tea and a tiny bit of retail therapy. Happy happy days :-D
