The Feast of the Epiphany

Miss Jean Brodie asks who the greatest Italian painter is, and when one girl responds that it is Leonardo da Vinci, Miss Brodie says, “‘That is incorrect. The answer is Giotto, he is my favourite.”

Giotto, a shepherd boy in his youth, painted this Adoration of the Magi. Miss Brodie’s hero died in 1337.

Today, the Feast of the Epiphany, is “Kings’ Day”. The “Fête des Rois” in France where traditional cakes are exchanged - gâteaux des rois.
