Surprise Guest
I spotted an interesting spider on my deck, so went inside to fetch my camera. As I came out the door, this fellow/lady swooped down, squawked a greeting and landed on the railing. We proceeded to have a "conversation" while he/she obligingly posed for my camera, prancing up and down the railing, listening to me, chatting away, etc. Here are the rest of the photos I took on this occasion. It was difficult to choose my favourite for this blip.
After coming in closer for a couple of shots, he/she squawked/laughed and flew off to join his/her mate in a nearby tree. The pair then proceeded to watch me as I photographed the spider, chatting away to one another as you do. As soon as I put my camera down, they flew off.
I don't feed them, and I love it when wildlife initiate contact, although these guys are pretty accustomed to living around humans, and maybe they are fed by humans elsewhere.
