Despite the Odds...

... the (male) red-bellied woodpecker more than held his own at the café this morning. Everytime a blue jay got too close to him, he'd jump forward menacingly and they'd back off. My studies of the local pecking order continue.

The photo was taken with my usual Canon lens, but then I realized I had a Photoshop App that allows me to make collages - so I did this to it, just as an experiment. I can see myself doing it again - but with slightly more appropriate subject matter. This doesn't really lend itself all that satisfactorily to this sort of treatment. Still, it's different!
