Apples and Pears

Towards the end of last year I acquired a toy kitchen in the second hand shop where I've bought lots of toys and baby/children's paraphernalia since having to re-equip the house with such stuff. It's a simple and effective premise. People donate what they no longer need, it's all checked over for safety and cleanliness before being put on sale and bought at a modest price for another child to enjoy. Nothing goes to landfill. Win-win as they say.

When I spied the kitchen the shop staff said there was a bag of toy wooden spoons, plates, cooking pots etc to go with it. Also in the bag were these wooden fruits and four wooden eggs in eggcups. The wooden fruit I'm sure did not come originally with the kitchen which is made for much smaller hands. I imagine these are more for a collection and while they're not particularly to my taste I can appreciate the smooth wood and craft that's gone into making them. They form the basis of a game called 'Fruit Teacher', sometimes known as 'Who deserves to be the fruit teacher?'

It's a mild but very windy day. Doing some prep for a meeting tonight about local democracy. Hope it goes well.
