The Wedding Cake !!
The 19th Century neo-Gothic New Court of St John's College, Cambridge, is situated on the west side of the river Cam. It was designed by Rickman and Hutchinson and built between 1826-1831. Because of it's flambouyant design, it has been nicknamed
'The Wedding Cake.' Hutchinson was suitably proud of his creation and it is said that he once dashed up a staircase, to reprimand an undergraduate, for spoiling it's symmetry by sitting too near one of the windows !
