Met a possum today
Jerry and I got out to hike today along the Wateree Passage of the Palmetto Trail. I did this hike with my ladies group a couple of months ago and since it was absolutely the best weather outside we had to get out of the house. (Well, I told him we were going to get out of the house or he would have stayed inside watching some show on Netflix that he is binge watching!) Anyway it was a good five mile hike with a couple of surprises..this opussum being one. It crossed the trail in front of us and then because there was water it had no choice except to climb a tree. The dog was with us and she was REALLY watching this thing but did not bark and did not try to chase it. Probably could not figure out what it was. A few minutes later after we crossed a second bridge, another possum crossed the trail and ran out of sight. There was water here also but apparently it found a hidey hole in the bank of the pond. First time I have ever been this close to a possum..about 10 feet from the trail to the tree.
When we were walking back to the car, we passed by a snake on the rail of the bridge where we had already walked about 45 minutes previously. Where was that snake then???!!!! It was not on the rail when we went by before! That gave me the heebie-jeebies! A harmless snake but a snake is a snake! He must have been enjoying the sunshine same as us! His picture is in the extras!
I got up early today and did get the second coat of paint on the bathroom wall so now all I have to do is the white trim. That may be when it rains again this weekend.
So a pretty good day here in South Carolina!
