Leopards and more

On our drive through the countryside today, we were treated to more incredible scenery around Ella Gap (steep hills around a valley still covered in vegetation and green right to the top). Took pictures of a waterfall, elephants by the roadside coming out to eat fruit on the road, and water buffalo lazing in pools.
In the afternoon we went on a safari to Yala national park. This is an experience I’ll never forget. As well as beautiful birds, monkeys, huge elephants, monitors, mongoose, crocodile, buffalo, loads of peacocks and a rabbit (!!), we were so lucky just towards the end of the drive to see 2 leopards. There are 70 in the park in total and 20 in the area we visited, so it was a real treat and great luck to see them. One was injured and C was asked to email his pictures so they could identify them and see if she needed any treatment.
The ride back to the park gates was great fun - we had to speed along to make the exit time, which we did with about 3 minutes to spare.
The picture here is a photo of my camera’s lcd display - it hasn’t come out well, but it was such an amazing moment, it had to be a photo of a leopard for the day. Littlehaystacks has a better picture.
